Choice of Framing and Captioning

Crystal – A plain theme best used when you have an isolated image or when you don’t want to use a caption. In this case CaptionPix can simply align your images for you, left, right or center without applying any decorative framing.

The caption is written in italics in Arial Bold, at font size 0.8em. This theme works best on a light colored page.

Simple – Another plain theme but this time with a black background applied to the caption text area.

If you don’t specify a caption, this theme will look the same as Crystal when used without a caption.

Captions are written in white on a black background at 0.9em, Arial. This theme works best on a light colored page.

Gap – This CaptionPix theme surrounds the image and the caption (if you’ve specified one) with a thin grey line.

There is a margin or gap between the line and the image and whatever color you have used on your web page will show through the gap.

This theme works best on a light coloured page. Captions are written in black at 0.9em Arial.

Elegant – The Elegant CaptionPix theme surrounds the image with a thin black border.

The black border extends down to the caption area, where the caption is placed. Captions are written in white at 0.9em, Arial font.

This theme will look best on light or white pages.

Outlined – This theme has a moderately thick dark grey border, with both the image and the grey border outlined again in black.

Captions are written in white at 0.9em, Arial font on the grey background.

This theme will look best on light colored or white pages.

Chunky – This theme is a bit special. It is best used to open an article – a little like a pull-quote can be used. It gives you the chance to make a statement and catch the reader’s interest in your WordPress post. You do this by using the caption to make a robust statement pertinent to your article that will draw them in.

Captions are written in white on a black background in Arial Bold, 2em.

Cardboard – This theme mounts the image on a brown cardboard effect background. In compliant browsers, the frame is also lifted off the page with a subtle drop shadow.

This effect does not work in non-compliant browsers like Internet Explorer, unless you have the latest version.

This theme, works well on most backgrounds, light and dark.

Captions are written in black on the cardboard background in Arial, 0.9em

Shoebox – This theme mounts the image on a grey cardboard effect background. In compliant browsers, the frame is also lifted off the page with a subtle drop shadow.

This effect does not work in non-compliant browsers like all but the most recent versions of Internet Explorer.

This theme, works well on most background colors.

Captions are written in black on the cardboard background in Arial, 0.9em

Ice – The Ice CaptionPix theme, places the image on a variagated blue and white, ice-like background. There is also a shadow effect, which is visible in compliant browsers. It won’t work in Internet Explorer though unless you have the very latest version.

This theme, works well on most background colors.

Captions are written in black on the icy background.

Photo – This theme mounts the image as if on plain white photo paper.

This theme, works well on most background colors, light and dark as there is a shadow around the frame to lift it from the page. This effect is lost however in all but the most recent version of Internet Explorer.

Captions are written in black within the caption area using Arial at 0.9em.

Replaster – This is quite a grungy theme, and places the image on a rendition of an old wall with flaking plaster.

If you don’t specify a caption, this theme will look the same as Crystal when used without a caption.

Captions are written in black on a textured background.

Shadow – This theme simply places a shadow around the image and the caption. Note that shadowing does not work in most existing versions of Internet Explorer.

The caption itself will always be written in black on a white

Mist – Here, the image is places on a misty grey background. The caption text is written in black, in Arial at 0.9em.

The frame also displays a shadow in compliant browsers, (i.e – not Internet Explorer, unless the person viewing the web page has the very latest version.)

WP Caption – This theme attempts to mimic the built in theme provided by your Theme designer via the WordPress captioning function.
